FULL OF SURPRISES!
Woohoo!! This year is really a FUN birthday for me.
I feel really blessed… to have so many wonderful friends around me. Although I am not successful in my career, I am proud to say that my greatest achievement in life is having an amazing group of friends whom I loved dearly and vice versa!.
Here’s a summary of what my friends did… everything you guys did touches me to the highest degree although I am an absolute failure in expressing and revealing all my emotions. I’m quite an expressionless person, sad to say.
My birthday celebration started off as early as Friday evening. My darling Yilin actually planned a surprised birthday dinner for me. She gave me a very beautiful pair of earrings that she made herself! The earring is really really gorgeous. What can I say I have a very talented friend. As I was not well lately, we had dinner at Crystal Jade. The porridge there is really good. But I was still quite sad because how often do people eat porridge for their birthday celebration? We waited for a long time for Serene to join us and she came just when we were about to finish our dinner. Then the surprise came!!!! Zach and my colleague Hilary actually turned up as well! Well its quite a nice surprise because my darling actually ganged up with my colleague.
Afterwhich, the group of us decided to chill off at Bakerz Inn… Why?
Because they know i couldn’t eat my favourite ginger milk pudding due to my weak stomach. how evil are they! You figure! While waiting for the rest to look at the menu, Yilin went off and came back with 2 great surprises! Edalene and a birthday cake! Edalene, thank you for turning up despite having to rush over to another gathering. I’m thrilled to see you! Edalene had chuan tong with Yilin! Actually everyone has chuan tong with my darling to give me a memorable evening!
On Saturday after work, I was supposed to meet up with my gang. Siling, Jasmine and Siying. It never occurred to me that they were up to some surprise for me too! They started smsing me in the morning, trying to get me to go to Jasmine’s house. As I did not sleep well the previous night, I actually replied that I will go home for a nap 1st before meeting them. Finally, they ran out of ideas to trick me and told me that they were preparing dinner for me and that I must turn up!! Woweee!!! They are so sweet to cook dinner for me. I’ve always longed for home-cooked food. Once I reached Jasmine’s place, I was left alone while they kept themselves busy in the kitchen. Kitchen is out of bounds for me!! Haha.. So I was like a princess that day… having people fussing over me. >.<
After a few hours of waiting, *my gang had been preparing the dinner since morning*, my 6 course dinner is ready! Scallop porridge, potato and carrot soup, cabbage, salad, cupcakes and cocktail agar agar! Drool le ba?? Zhen de hao xing fu oh!! The cupcakes, cocktail agar agar and soup are exceptionally nice! 1 of the cupcakes ended up as my perfect birthday cake! So cute! Siling n Jie Jie even made a hand-sewn card for me! In addition, they shared to buy a DKNY Delicious perfume for me and I had been aiming for that perfume.. thank you gals so much for granting my wish.
Sunday is a family day. I went to New Creation church at Suntec City. I felt obliged to go as my godpa has been asking me so many times. And since he had mentioned that he and his family wanted to celebrate my birthday, I could not bring myself to reject the invitation. Overall, I think the church service is interesting. No wonder the queue is always so long. After chuch service, we went to have lunch at Crystal Jade *yar again.. but this time round we order the set lunch* My godma gave me a cosmetic/accessories casing as my birthday present. Really cool casing! I can act as a makeup artist anytime now!
Monday. I got a shock when someone came by during lunch time and passed a present to my colleague. I was out buying lunch at that time. It was a small doggy soft toy, wrapped like a bouquet of flowers. On the card wrote some sweet/mushy messages.. signed “Z.L.” Giving me an impression that I got a secret admirer!! >.< I am really embarrassed when my colleague teased me that I was faking and that I am still single. So... I burnt lots of brain cells guessing who the mysterious guy could be... while at the same time, I was thinking that this could be a trick. After work, I had dinner with Hilary and Siew Choo *my ex. colleague* and her bf. We went to a Korean restaurant at Chinatown. The food is nice! When we finished eating, I was nagged to go to the washroom to wash my hands. When I returned to our table, I sensed that they were up to some mischief. I was asked to closed my eyes and they warned me not to open my eyes no matter what. Unfortunately, the very curious me could not continue to wait for so long. Amidst their whispering, I saw my surprise! A lovely muffin with a red candle was right in front of me~~ wow~ they were actually discussing on how to present the cake to me… lolz…
But isn’t it nice of me? I opened my eyes and saved them from cracking their brains.
It was only then that I found out that my ex. Colleague is the 1 who plotted the “Secret Admirer” scheme. *Evil………* “Z.L. actually means Zhu with Love” But then again, I am very happy at the fact that they took so much effort to make me happy! Still remember the first impression I had of her was nothing but discontentment when she first came into the office. I have never seen someone as insane as her… lolz… but as times passed.. I realized she is such a friendly, jovial and definitely still an insane girl! It is through her that Hilary and I started to talk more. She helps us to overcome the shyness that both Hilary and I have.
At home, I got 2 big envelopes waiting for me. I opened 1 of them and started playing the unwrapping present game that my darling has prepared for me!! Hhaha.. its so fun to unwrap the present… and you look forward to the final surprise awaiting you. I feel like a kid again! The final presents are Esprit vouchers from Serene and Edalene and an ang bao from my darling! Those vouchers are really what I need. Been drooling over a skirt and now I’m able to get it without having to burn a hole in my pocket! Ooohhh!!! U all quite mean to trick me that u all forgot to bring my present on Friday yar.. but I Love you gals! Mailing the present over is indeed a greater surprise!!
I then unlock the mystery behind the 2nd big envelope. There was a pretty birthday card, 2 presents and my final payment for the freelance job. Lolz.. the presents were from Sereen and her bf Qihao. Never expected them to give me presents… let alone mail it over! Postage is not cheap. They got me a lovely pink Roxy tank top and a green beaded bracelet! Love the presents! =) An amusing thing to note: “Grage” was written on the envelope. Hehe.. a combination of Grace and Crage. Didn’t I tell you all my friends have the flair for creativity?? Wahahaha..
Tuesday. 25th October 2005. The official Princess Crage day! Hehe.. Felt really excited today as I knew there are still many surprises awaiting me. After lunch, Hilary kicked start the “celebration” with a very very special birthday card that was clipped in a file.
Behind a very touching message, is an interesting MCQ quiz. I am supposed to do the quiz with Hilary, telling her my answers. I can see that she had put in loads of effort for this as its pretty hard to create. Its those type where you need to skip to a qnz depending on the answer you chose. When you answered “correctly”, you get to chose a number.. 1 to 4… each number represents a different gift. So in total, I got a total of 5 presents; including a grand prize that I have won at the final qnz!
The presents are:
1) a really cool belt
2) a self-designed necklace
3) a cuddly duck soft toy *by the name of Ya Fan; duck rice in Chinese. Dun ask me y I gave it that name. I just think the name fits my duck duck.*
4) 6 pieces of sponge! *yes, sponges..those plate-washing type… erm.. its difficult to explain why she gave me that.. really…. *
5) Grand prize: a printed tee! *the attitude sketching that I did. Hilary actually saved my sketching image and used it for printing. She also sewed some buttons as decorations and my nick “Crage” at the back of the tee.
At 5+, its cake-cutting time! My birthday cake is a mint cake from Angie’s Choice. Sedap!!! I’ve always liked Angie’s Choice cakes. My colleagues gave yet another pressie!! Metro vouchers! Damn cool… coz I can buy a watch with the vouchers. Prolly be getting a Fossil watch.. lalalaaaala……
Last but not least… I still got to mention some other cool presents and heart-warming wishes that I received!

My Cousin: She is the 1st to buy me present. A funky pink jacket from Bugis Village.
My Auntie: She got me a rose scented shower gel and hand lotion. *Pampering time!*

Wow wow wow.... My 23rd birthday has been absolutely fantastic! I’m very touched to be so loved by my friends…colleagues... family members... this year has been a rather rough year for me.. and with so many events popping up every now and then… I’m so glad that God has brought so many wonderful people into my life! Now I pray that all my friends will be happy always... and really kudos to them... for bringing happiness n laughter to my dead and boring life! I’m going for wisdom tooth surgery on the 28th October, which is tomorrow!! Hope everything goes well and I can recover soon. I cant go without solid food. I need to eat n I like to eat! FOOOOOD!!! Perhaps after this surgery, I can squeeze into my size 26 jeans again. We’ll see! Hehe…
